Hermina (Teune) Dreyer, age 93, passed away peacefully on May 2, 2026, surrounded by love.
Born on September 14, 1932, in Chicago, Illinois, to Herman "Harm" and Carolyn (Bos) Teune, Hermina was raised with a strong foundation of faith and family. Her love for the Lord guided her life, and it was through her church choir that she met the love of her life, Arthur J. Dreyer. They were married in 1960 and went on to raise two children, Kenneth and Kathleen.
Known to many as “Hermie,” she was truly a jack of all trades. Over the years, she brought her warmth and dedication to a variety of roles, including customer service at Sears & Roebuck, being a homemaker, managing a Hallmark store, assisting in a Christian school library, working at the Jellystone Park eatery in Plymouth, Indiana, volunteering with a dental team in the Dominican Republic, performing as a clown, and caring for seniors through Home Instead. No matter the task, Hermina approached it with enthusiasm and heart.
Hermina had a creative spirit and found joy in crafting—whether with buttons, soda can tabs, hot pads, or anything that could be brought together with a glue stick. She will perhaps be most remembered for her sense of humor and her gift for telling jokes; she loved making others laugh.
Her greatest loves included her relationship with Christ, her family, playing Bingo, and watching sports of all kinds. She could often be found in her recliner, nibbling on Funyons, enjoying volleyball, tennis, bowling, lacrosse, golf, football, or even corn hole. She especially cherished attending Indianapolis Colts or WNBA Fever games with her daughter and grandchildren.
Hermina’s infectious smile and warm spirit will be deeply missed by all who knew her. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Arthur; her parents; and five siblings: Grace (Teune) Korringa, William Teune, Mary (Teune) Hamstra, Johanna (Teune) Zaagman, and Herman Teune, Jr.
She is survived by her children, Kenneth and Kathleen; her sister, Carolyn (Teune) Huizenga; her four grandchildren, Emily, Leah, Berkley, and Bennett and many nephews and nieces.
A celebration of Hermina’s life will be held at a later date in Bradenton, Florida. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in her memory to the Humane Society or a charity of your choice.
