Herman Joseph Landau

Herman Joseph Landau 82, of Westfield, passed away peacefully in his sleep early in the morning of February 12, 2014. Herman was born on November 20, 1931 in St. Louis, MO to the late Max and Annabelle (Westerman) Landau. Herman is survived by his twin brother, Bernard (Diana) Landau; his four children: daughter Karen Levenhagen, daughter Sharon (Gene) Sponseller, son Joseph (Ellen) Landau, and daughter Sandra (Blake) Briggs; as well as nine grandchildren. He was a dedicated parishioner of St. Maria Goretti Catholic Church, where he was active in several church ministries, including Silver Angels. Herman enjoyed walking on the Monon Trail, watching his grandchildren in their various activities, and all forms of exercise especially walking, jogging, and bicycling. He was an avid member of Stone Belt Shriners Association and spent many happy weekends traveling around the state for mini-bike parades. Herman excelled in a sales career with Carnation Company, where he was a very successful and dedicated employee for over 25 years. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Mary Elizabeth Landau and his sister, Betty Hall. Visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m., Friday, February 14th, St. Maria Goretti Catholic Church, Westfield. The Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m., Saturday, February 15th, St. Maria Goretti Catholic Church, where friends may call one hour prior to the time of services. Burial will follow at Our Lady of Peace Cemetery in Indianapolis. In lieu of flowers the family has requested that memorial contributions be made to St. Maria Goretti Catholic Church Building Fund.
