Herman H. Albright

March 23, 1931 — May 1, 2011

Herman H. “Herm” Albright, 80 of Indianapolis passed away May 1, 2011. He was a 1949 Tech High School graduate and a 1959 Butler University graduate. Herm was a US Navy veteran. When he graduated from Butler in 1959, he went to Naval Avionics as editor of their employee newspaper, The Beamrider, a job he was to hold for 23 years. He was also working part time as editor of the Perry Weekly in Beech Grove. He wrote the Albrighter Side Column for the Perry Weekly presently known as the South Side Times, and was still a free lance writer. Herm is survived by his wife of 38 years Barbara H. Albright; children Susan Albright Smitley, Sheila Rura, Trevor Albright, Sharon Albright and Barry Riggsbee; 6 grandchildren Allison, Jacob, Lindsey, Seth, Joseph and Jeremy; sister Jenny Knoebel, and brothers Fred and Randy Albright. Services will be Friday, May 6, 10am at the Flanner and Buchanan Funeral Center-Washington Park East with visitation Thursday, May 5, at the center from 4 to 7pm.
