Henry M. Beard, Jr.

Henry M. Beard Jr, 73, Carmel, passed away on Saturday, February 13, 2016. Henry was born on July 6, 1942, in Indianapolis the son of the late Henry M. Sr. and Helen V. (Leavell) Beard. He married Karen S. Kemp on July 25, 1964.

Henry earned the rank of Eagle Scout before graduating from Zionsville High School. He later earned his bachelor’s degree Magna Cum Laude from the University of South Dakota, where he served as Class President for three years. He proudly served in the United States Navy, where he completed two tours in Vietnam. He retired as a finance manager with Alcatel-Lucent Technologies and later retiring from Clarian Health. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge and the VFW. He was an avid reader and enjoyed traveling the world, playing golf, and woodworking. He loved giving back to those around him.

He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Karen Beard; their son, Rick Beard; two grandchildren, Ty and Austin Beard; and his brother, Charles (Marilyn) Beard.

Services will be 12 noon Saturday, February 20, 2016, at St. Mark’s United Methodist Church, 4780 East 126th Street. Visitation will be from 3:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Friday, February 19, 2016, at the church, and also from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service on Saturday.
