Henry John Kowalczyk, beloved husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather aged 93, went home to be with the Lord, April 27, 2015. He was born June 30, 1921 in Detroit, Michigan. Henry was a WWII European Theater veteran and used the GI Bill to obtain a degree in Mechanical Engineering from Wayne State University. He retired from a career at Ford Motor Co. He participated for many years in his local parish activities, loved playing golf, fishing, traveling, and most of all spending time with family and friends.
Those left to cherish his memory are beloved wife, Mary Kowalczyk of Carmel; daughters Katherine (Dean) Lerg of Zionsville and Patricia Lapp of Caro, MI; grandsons Bryan Lerg of Carmel and Michael Lapp of Caro, MI; great-granddaughter Jaya Lerg. He is preceded in death by his sisters Stella Szydlo, Helene Barwick and grandson, James Lerg.
A Funeral Mass will be held 11:00 AM, Friday, May 1, 2015 at Saint Alphonsus Liguori Catholic Church, 1870 W. Oak Street, Zionsville, IN 46077 with Rev. Father Dennis J. O'Keeffe officiating. The family will receive friends at the church from 10:00 AM until service time. Flanner and Buchanan-Zionsville entrusted with arrangements.
