Henry C. Bock, M.D.

Henry C. Bock, M.D., 81, Indianapolis, passed away May 26, 2018.  He was born January 6, 1937, in Hammond, the son of the late Henry and Lina (Reutter) Bock.

Henry served in the US Army Medical Corp from 1955-1957.  He received his Bachelor of Science in Education in 1962, followed by his Master of Arts in Anatomy and Physiology, and then ultimately his MD in 1968 from Indiana University School of Medicine.  In the late 70’s he started traveling with the medical/safety team of the United States Auto Club.  In 1982, he became the medical director of the Indianapolis Motor Speedway.  When Indy Racing League was established in 1996, he assumed the position as the medical director for the league. In addition to overseeing the infield Medical Center, Dr. Bock would travel to various IRL events and conduct crash tests and research to better improve driver safety until his retirement in 2006.

He is survived by his brother, Robert (Peggy) Bock, sister Marianne (James) Rouhselange, and nephews Gregory Bock, Brian Bock, James Rouhselange, and Jeffrey Rouhselange.
