Henley Hazel Romine

January 15, 2009 — July 19, 2013

Henley Hazel Romine Henley Hazel Romine peacefully and gracefully received God's angel wings on Friday, July 19, 2013 in her home. She had courageously faced numerous obstacles in her struggle to overcome neuroblastoma, a rare childhood cancer. She was born on January 15, 2009, the daughter of Dr. Grant and Lynsey (Heitholt) Romine of Carmel, IN. Henley captured the hearts of thousands with her BEEautiful smile and contagious love of life as well as through her parent's three-year journal on Caringbridge, www.bravebee.org and Facebook. She always had a smile for everyone - amazing all with her resiliency. She especially enjoyed her Make-a-Wish trip to Disney World and numerous visits to the beach. D.L. Moody's famous quote characterizes Henley perfectly. He said, "Someday you will read in the paper that Moody is dead. Don't you believe it. Because in that moment, I will be more alive than I have ever been." Her family wants to thank the many wonderful doctors and nurses at Riley Children's Hospital, Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center, and Helen DeVos Children's Hospital. Appreciation is also extended to all of the special people that supported them on Henley's journey. Cherishing her memory, along with her loving parents, is Henley's brother and best friend, Cooper Romine. Also surviving are paternal Grandparents John and Becky (Lohman) Romine and maternal Grandparents Chuck and Jan (Huelsmeyer) Heitholt of Carmel, IN. Great-Grandparents surviving are Mary Esther Romine of Mentone, IN, Richard and Fern Heitholt of Yorkville, IL, and Mary Lou Huelsmeyer of Quincy, IL. She also leaves Uncles Clark Romine and Michael (Kelly) Heitholt of Carmel, IN and Aunt Emily (Jeremy) Tuleja and new Cousin Thomas of Golden, CO. Others include Great Aunts and Uncles Ken (Sharon) Romine, Deborah (Neil, deceased) Shook, Bill (Ruth) Lohman, Becky (Tom) Berry, and Vicki Ridder and numerous cousins and countless friends. Great-Grandparents Kenneth Romine, Robert Lohman, Gloria Sturgeon, and Robert Huelsmeyer and Great Uncles Robert Romine and Gary Huelsmeyer preceded her in death.
