Helene Carolyn Zaiser Rian
passed away on January 25, 2013. She was born in Indianapolis, IN on January 8, 1933 to Robert M. Zaiser and Virginia Lee Zaiser.
Helene graduated from Broad Ripple High School Class of 1951, attended college at IU and a member of the Delta Gamma sorority. She earned a Master's Degree from Butler University in Education many years later. She was a passenger aboard the Stockholm when it hit the Andrea Doria off Nantucket in 1956. Since then she has been a survivor of many things throughout her life. Helene taught school for many years at Grassy Creek Elementary.
Helene leaves to cherish her memory her son R. Michael Rian (Kristi Harrison), her daughter Victoria Rian (husband Herman Arrivillaga), their half-sister Lora Rian (children, Dallas Buckler and Ava Buckler), cousins Len Zaiser and Jane Zaiser Frazer.
Helene loved life, loved and cherished her friends and enjoyed being a part of The Mud Creek Barn and Garden Club, Oasis, a member of Church of the Nativity, the Indianapolis Sailing Club as an active member in the early years of the club, and Ft. Ben Book Club.
Calling hours will be Saturday, February 2nd from 1:00 P.M. until 3:00 P.M. at Church of the Nativity 7300 Lantern Road 46256. The Memorial Service will begin at 3:00 P.M. at the same location. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made in Helene's name to Church of the Nativity.
