Helen Bernice Meyer

Helen Bernice Meyer of Carmel, IN, was surrounded by her family when she passed on June 9, 2024, at the age of 84. 

She was born in Burton Ridge, Kentucky, on April 8, 1940, to George and Dorothy Burton. She was one of three children, with older siblings Roy Burton and Barbara Voorhies (Burton). After graduating from Greenwood High School in 1958, she met her lifelong love, Ross Meyer, while working together at Jefferson National Insurance Company. They were married on July 15, 1961, at Greenwood First Baptist Church. She shared her joyful personality working in customer service for Hallmark Card Store and K-Mart until her retirement in 1997. 

Bernice was a loving mom to Sheryl, Patty, and Cindy. She was a caring mother-in-law to Jon Miller and Terry Carson. She adored her grandchildren, Brianna, William, and Zachary Carson. She was Aunt Bernice to several nieces and nephews. She was a fun piece of the Crazy Eights friend group who loved to travel, dine, and play cards together. Other hobbies included jigsaw puzzles and cheering for her favorite sports teams. Recently, she enjoyed BINGO with her assisted living community. 

She was preceded in death by both parents, her brother Roy, and her in-laws Chester and Ethel Meyer, Chester and Betty Meyer, Robert Meyer, Ralph and Margerie Meyer, Paul and June Benjamin (Meyer), and Dennis Voorhies.

A Visitation for Bernice will be held on Wednesday, June 19, from 11 am to 1 pm, with a Funeral Service at 1 pm, both at Flanner Buchanan – Carmel, 325 E. Carmel Drive. There will be a graveside service to follow at Crown Hill Cemetery.
