Helen Margaret Delaney
94, Carmel, peacefully passed away on August 11, 2012 surrounded by her family. Helen was a first generation American, born of Alex and Susie Tar, Hungarian immigrants on November 5, 1917 on the Southside of Chicago.
Helen married Robert John Delaney, a lieutenant in the Army Air Corps on September 5, 1942. They moved frequently, finally settling in Indianapolis in 1963. The couple and their family lived there until 1982, when upon their retirement, Bob and Helen moved to Bonita Springs, Florida. After Bob passed away in October of 2002, Helen moved to Summer Trace in Carmel to be close to her five children.
She is survived by her children, Joyce (David) Vannatta, Gail (David) Dresslar, Sheila (Michael) Morone, Denise (Patrick - deceased) Lannon and Robert (Annette) Delaney, as well as 12 fabulous grandchildren and 10 terrific great-grandchildren and nephew, Dale Tar of Boca Raton, FL.
Helen believed that one of the keys to a happy life was to have hobbies. She enjoyed gardening, bowling, keeping up on current events, crocheting, board games, crosswords and was a wonderful cook.
Her family would like to acknowledge the enjoyment she received from her friends and the staff at Summer Trace.
The family's heartfelt appreciation is extended to the compassionate caregivers from Friends of the Family, Cheri, Kathy and Helen's special friend, Connie. Helen was very much loved and will be missed. Memorial service plans are pending. Arrangements: Flanner and Buchanan - Carmel .
