Helen M. Barger Godwin
It is with great sadness that the family of Helen M. Barger Godwin, announce her passing on Tuesday, June 11, 2013 at Community Hospital North ICU, Indianapolis. Helen was born December 8, 1935 in Hazard, Kentucky. She was one of nine children born to the late Estill L. Barger and Grace Barger (McKnight) and was the beloved wife of Murray Godwin for over 40 years. She was employed for 26 years at Uniroyal, later renamed Indianapolis Rubber Company.
Helen is survived by her three children, Dr. Kathryn Stuart (Steve), M. Anthony Godwin (Jacqueline) of Belize, Central America and Glenda Janice Grovenberry; also surviving are her grandchildren John Spista, RJ Stuart, Brooke Grovenberry, Leon Shagoury and Sean Stezaker and one great grandchild, Abigail Spista. Helen is also survived by her brothers, Junior (Marie), Herman (Wanda), and Garland (Margie).
Appreciation and thanks to Helen's neighbor and devoted friend, Clarence Williams, as well as friends Norma and Madonna.
A special thanks to her physicians, nurses and staff, and Emily Meister at Community Vascular Hospital and Community North Hospital as well as Prairie Lakes Nursing Home for their great care, compassion and professionalism.
Family visitation is Saturday, June 15, 2013, 3-4pm, with public visitation immediately following. Service will be at 6pm. Burial will be Sunday, June 16, 2013 at 10am. All services will be held at Flanner and Buchanan Memorial Park, 9350 East Washington Street, Indianapolis, IN 46229.
