Helen Reeser,
92 years young, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her family on March 17, 2015. Born a coal miner's daughter in Clinchco, Virginia she grew up with three brothers and a younger sister. Helen lost both parents as a child and would grow up under the loving care of her aunts and uncles. Her brothers were all veterans of World War II and each of them helped out their sisters by sending money home each payday. It was with this kind of brotherly love that Helen was eventually able to move to Indianapolis with her younger sister. Helen would spend the next years working for Western Electric from where she eventually retire. Upon moving to Indianapolis Helen would soon meet Ray Reeser and they would marry, spending 67 years together as husband and wife until Ray's passing in 2013. Their marriage would produce two sons, Doug Reeser (wife Deb) of Indianapolis and Randy Reeser (wife Pat) of Atlanta, Georgia. Helen loved and nurtured her 8 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren. As an active and longtime member of Lawrence United Methodist Church her ever present smile was cherished by it's congregation.
Helen was a willing and masterful host to family events too numerous to mention, she cherished her time in the garden, camped, fished but most of all she loved to spoil her grandchildren! Although Helen and Ray enjoyed many family reunions at Smith Mountain Lake, their greatest enjoyment came at their cabin on Lake Monroe. Helen loved to gather with her family and prepare meals that were beyond compare, these experiences would be her greatest joy. Anyone who had the chance to know Helen Reeser fell in love with her optimistic outlook on life. She loved people and they loved her!
