Helen I. Dowell

Helen Imogene Dowell 91, Carmel, passed away March 9, 2012. Born in Vigo County, Indiana on June 12, 1920, to Clarance and Carrie Lowe, she was the youngest of eight children. She was a lifelong resident of Indianapolis and Carmel. A talented and award-winning artist, Helen received great pleasure from creating and giving countless paintings to family and friends. She was a member of Saint Andrew Presbyterian Church and Speedway Eastern Star for over 50 years. She was married to the late Firman A. Dowell for over 60 years. A loving and caring mother, she leaves behind her son, David (Mary Lou) of Carmel, her daughter, Susie (Mike) Winters Lamey of Evansville, five grandchildren, Joshua (Shannon) Dowell, Nicholas (Stephanie) Winters, Meghan (Clay) Westbrook, Anna (Eric) Heidenreich, Hailee Winters Burkett and five great grandchildren, Elijah, Chaz, Sarah, Isabella and Noah. Memorial contributions may be made to Saint Andrew Presbyterian Church, 3535 Kessler Boulevard, North Drive, Indianapolis, IN 46222. Services will be on Tuesday, March 13, 2012 at 1 PM at Flanner and Buchanan- Carmel, 325 E. Carmel Drive, with visitation from 11 AM until the time of service.
