Helen A. Wester

Helen A. Wester, 93, Indianapolis, passed away January 31, 2014. Helen was born July 10, 1920 in Montgomery, TN. She was the daughter of Marvin H. Proctor and Lena A. (Story) Proctor. She was a devoted Christian and attended Centenary Christian Church (Disciples of Christ). Helen joined the Signal Corps during WW II, which brought her to Indianapolis, where she spent the remainder of her life. She met her husband, Henry Wester, in the early 1940's in Indianapolis, and they were married on April 12, 1947. She retired after a long career at Naval Avionics. Helen enjoyed fishing and bowling with her husband and friends. Her greatest satisfaction was caring for her family. Helen was preceded in death by her husband of 39 years, Henry N. Wester, and her siblings, Horace M. Proctor, Laverne Christy, Mary Ella Moore, William V. Proctor, Creola E. Matlock, John A. Proctor, and Marvin H. Proctor, Jr. in infancy. She is survived by her children, Mary J. Allen (Brian), Sandra K. Wester, and Susan A. Allen; grandchildren, Sanford "Skip" Lykins IV (Kathy), Scott P. Allen, Jason W. Quyle, and Lindsay R. Quyle; great-grandchildren, Beatrice Naughton and Harvey Kramer; and numerous nieces and nephews. Services will be on Saturday, February 8 at 2 PM at Flanner and Buchanan- Washington Park East, 10722 E. Washington Street, with visitation from 12 - 2 PM. Burial will be in Washington Park East Cemetery.
