Harry Wesley Hill

Harry W. Hill Passed away peacefully with family around him February 21, 2015. Harry's parents Noah & Edith Hill and brother, Robert Hill have preceded him in death. He is survived by Joan Hill his wife of 48 years. Son, Christopher Hill (Claudia); daughter, Barbara Scruggs (William) and Son, Richard Lindsey (Elissa), eight grandchildren (Kaitie, April, Rick C., Ellie, Wesley, Ashley, Chloe & Noah. Five great grandchildren Alexis, Matthew, Kade, Shelby, and Rick W. with sixth joining the family in May. Harry was a lot of things to a lot of people. He is the son of immigrants from England and Ireland and raised in New York during the depression. He attended DeWitt Clinton High and graduated from Columbia University. After only a year and a half into the Pharmacy Program at Columbia University, Harry enlisted in the Navy as a Pharmacists First Mate during World War II. Two weeks out to sea the Pharmacist got sick and Harry was promoted to Pharmacist over his ship to the Pacific for the duration of World War II. After the war Harry received his degree and became a husband and father of two-Barbara and Chris. Harry moved to Indiana as an Employee of Eli Lilly and retired after 32 years. Harry met and married the love of his life, Joan. She was a single mom and Harry became a second dad to 14 yr old Rick. Harry enjoyed fine things and simple pleasures, he enjoyed good food, a perfectly mixed drink, Purdue University, sports, a manicured lawn, vacationing with friends and family. He is most known for his ability to conduct a wide array of musical compositions from the dance floor, arm chair or steering wheel of his car. To all siblings, cousins, children, nieces, and nephews Harry is Grandpa. While step, half, or adopted might label us by the worlds standards, those words are not used in his house. We are family.
