Harry Richard Hurt
95, of Indianapolis, IN passed away on Sunday, December 17, 2017. Harry was born in Indianapolis, IN on March 11, 1922 to parents, Harry Richard and Margerate Elizabeth (Thompson) Hurt. Harry was a proud graduate of the Milton Hershey Industrial School. He served his country honorably in the US Army as a mechanic during WWII. During his career, Harry worked as a branch manager for GW Berkheimer Co., Inc. for 26 years and went on to retire from Roche Pharmaceutical in 1988. Harry was a loving and devoted family man who loved golfing and singing. He was a Mason, a Shriner and a member of the Scottish Rite.
Harry was preceded in death by his parents, Harry and Margerate and one brother, Franklin “Mike” Hurt. He is survived by his wife of 70 years, Barbara C. (Fenner) Hurt, whom he married on December 5, 1947; daughter, Chris T. Stanfill; grandson, Richard Stanfill (Jayne); and great-grandson, Riley Stanfill.
A memorial gathering will be held from 11am until 1pm on Friday, December 22, 2017 at Flanner Buchanan – Washington Park East, 10722 E. Washington St, Indianapolis. A cyptside committal service will immediately follow at 1pm.
In lieu of flowers, family and friends are encouraged to make a memorial contribution to the Dementia Society of America.
