Harry Lavern Burgess, Jr.

Harry LaVern Burgess, Jr., 75, of Indianapolis, passed away on Friday, September 9, 2016. He was born on August 27, 1941 in Indianapolis, IN to Harry LaVern Burgess, Sr. and Virginia “Jennie” Louise (Barkman) Burgess. Harry was a 1960 graduate of Beech Grove High School and worked as a Network Administrator for the Police and Fireman’s Insurance Company from 1987 – 1995. He was an avid fan of Warren Central High School athletics and enjoyed supporting the Indianapolis Colts. Harry enjoyed wildlife photography and could often be found out in nature photographing eagles. He is survived by his children, Christie (Jason) Herring and Harry (Penny) Burgess III; 7 grandchildren, Torie, Dakota, Justin, Harry IV, Roland, Paige and Cheyenne; brothers, Jim and Dan Burgess; and sister, Peggy Wagoner. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Chris Burgess, and loving wife of 50 years, Carole Burgess. Visitation for Mr. Burgess will be held on Thursday, September 15, 2016 from 4-8pm at Flanner and Buchanan – Memorial Park. Funeral services will be Friday morning at 10am, also at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Mt. Pleasant Cemetery in Greenwood, IN. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made at www.brightfocus.org.
