Harry "Mike" Klein

Harry Michael “Mike” Klein passed away on June 8th, 2024 at 80 years of age. He was born on November 1st, 1943 to the late Harry and Elizabeth (Bobeff) Klein, Indianapolis, Indiana. After their passing, he was raised by his stepfather James R. Cox, Indianapolis, Indiana. He graduated from Arsenal Tech High School, following graduation Mike PROUDLY served as a Field Artilleryman in the Army’s famed 1st Infantry Division. He was a lifetime member and Vietnam Veteran of the Big Red One. After an honorable discharge from the military, Mike worked for the US Postal Service for 30 years, (come rain, sleet, snow, or shine) until he finally retired in 1998 at the age of 55. For the past 25 years, he lived in Noblesville with his loving wife, Carole, and their two dogs until his passing. He was a member of the Carmel Veterans of Foreign Wars and the Indianapolis American Legion Post 34. Mike had many hobbies, he loved fishing, cooking, casino boats, playing black jack, collecting knives, watches, flashlights and was an avid coffee enthusiast. However, spending time with his family and dogs were his favorite. He never missed one of his granddaughters’ softball games or their numerous academic award ceremonies and always made sure to support his family and friends in any way possible. Mike is survived by his wife, Carole (Timm) of 47 years. His adopted daughter Katherine V. Callahan, two granddaughters Lauren and Caroline (Joni) Thompson. Mike was very proud to be their PAPA. Sister-in-law Sandra (Donald) Troendly, Naperville, Illinois. Cousins Jane (Darrell) Wacker, Chesterfield, Missouri, John (Betty) Klesczewski, Troy, Missouri, Jim (Kathleen) Klesczewski, Valley Park, Missouri, and many nieces and nephews. Family and friends are invited to share from 4 to 7pm on Friday, August 2nd at Flanner Buchanan Oaklawn Memorial Gardens, Connor Suite, 9700 Allisonville Rd. 46250 or the funeral services will be held the following day, Saturday, August 3rd, at 11am. For all of us who knew and loved Papa Mike, our lives were truly blessed by his presence. He would not want anyone to mourn him, he would say, “adjust to the situation.” We will forever miss him.
