Harry Clarke Curnow

Harry Clarke Curnow, 85, of Carmel, Indiana passed away Wednesday, June 12, 2024. He was born December 17,1938 in Detroit, Michigan, the son of the late Ernest and Gladys (Pritchard) Curnow. Harry’s love for lake life began as a child growing up on the water in Wind Lake, Wisconsin. He graduated from Waterford High School and played football and basketball. Harry then attended the University of Wisconsin where he graduated with a BS in Mechanical Engineering. Go Badgers! He was a member of Theta Delta Chi, ROTC and met the love of his life, Alice. They were married on December 29, 1962. Harry proudly served in the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers stationed in Schwetzingen (Heidelberg), Germany where he earned the rank of Lieutenant. Upon returning to the States, he began his career with Rockwell Automation/Allen-Bradley in Pittsburgh. He served as District Sales Manager and moved to Gary, back to Pittsburgh, Indianapolis, Cleveland, and Chicago. His loyalty and dedication were evident as he remained there for over 39 years. He retired as Channel Manager of the Central Region in 2001 and continued as a consultant for 3 additional years. Harry was proud to be a Rockwell Automation/Allen-Bradley “Lifer”. He never met a stranger and had a positive impact on all those who knew him. 

This selfless spirit continued in his retirement while volunteering with Starfish Initiative mentorship program, Habitat for Humanity, Cool Creek Pantry, Elevate Indy, and SAWs Ramps. His passion for helping others impacted not only family, but countless individuals. He lived life to the fullest - always seeking adventure and experiences. Harry especially loved travelling, playing tennis, skiing, scuba diving, attending sporting events and boating on Morse Reservoir; but his greatest enjoyment was spending time with his family. He was a devoted husband, father, papa and great grandfather who will be deeply missed.

He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Alice; four children, Scott (Cindy) Curnow, Kristin (Jason) Darko, Karen (Matt) Halkyard, Kelly (Topher Ramsdell) Curnow; six grandchildren, Emily (Jackson) Krauter, Kevin Curnow, Stacy Curnow, Tommy Halkyard, William Halkyard, Elizabeth Halkyard; and two great grandchildren, Jordan and Madison Krauter. 

Funeral Service will be held at 2:00 pm on Monday, June 24 at St. Luke’s United Methodist Church, 100 West 86th Street, Indianapolis with visitation from noon until the time of service at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to Elevate Indy (PO Box 441456, Indianapolis, IN 46204) or Water for South Sudan (PO Box 25551, Rochester, NY 14625).
