Harold Robert Shipley, 60, of Indianapolis, IN passed away on April 27th 2024.
He was born on October 14th, 1963 to Harold L. Shipley and MaryKay (Elson/Shipley) Meils.
Harold (Hal) sustained a brain injury at birth. He had many challenges in life, but they never slowed him down. He grew up spending many summer weekends at Elson’s Ponderosa Campground in Monticello, IN and had many adventures there with his siblings and cousins.

Hal graduated from Broad Ripple High School (like his dad before him) in 1983. Hal lived independently in Broad Ripple for many years. He was a fixture in the community and became known as the “Mayor of Broad Ripple”. He was proud of that title. He worked at many establishments in the Broad Ripple area from 1983 – 2014 including the American Legion, The Vogue and Northside Social.
Hal never met a stranger. He had friends from all walks of life who always looked out for him. He loved his family and all of the family fur babies. He loved cars, going to car shows, riding his bike around Broad Ripple, fishing and the Colts.
