Harold L. Shadday

Harold Leon Shadday, 98, of New Palestine, passed away December 9^th, 2023. He was born January 17^th, 1925, in Vevay, Indiana to parents Ulie and Elsie (Steele) Shadday.

He graduated valedictorian of his class at Vevay High School. He continued his education at Butler University, where he earned his bachelor's degree. Further receiving his master’s degree in accounting from Indiana University.

Harold married his college sweetheart Carolyn Schwomeyer. They shared many wonderful years together. Carolyn passed in 2008.

He proudly served his country during World War II, in the United States Army. As a veteran, Harold wrote and distributed newsletters, for fellow WWII veterans.

Before retiring, Harold had a long career as an accountant.

He attended Christ Lutheran Church of Irrvington.

Harold was strong, loving gentleman. He was a talented musician who could play any instrument by ear. He and his wife shared a passion for music and singing.  He enjoyed traveling, especially camping out west, and fossil hunting.

Harold is survived by his children David (Sherry) Shadday, Paul (Missy) Shadday, Ruth (Clayton) Crawford; grandchildren Nathaniel Shadday, Anna Wyss, Matthew Shadday, Leah Bernauer, Mary Muilenburg, David Muilenburg, Thomas Muilenburg, Jessie Hurst, and Joseph Shadday; and 13 great-grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by his parents, his wife Carolyn, and brother Curt Shadday.

Memorial contributions may be made to Lutheran Child and Family Services.

Visitation will be held from 10am – 12pm on Saturday December 16, 2023, at Flanner Buchanan – Washington Park East. His Funeral Service will begin at 12pm on December 16, 2023. He will be laid to rest directly following services at Washington Park East Cemetery.
