Harold R. Fancher
Age 86, of Indianapolis, passed away on Thursday, April 7, 2016. Harold was born in Hoopeston, IL on December 23, 1929 to the late, Arthur and Mary (Dennis) Fancher Shoemaker.
Harold Fancher was married to Grace Fancher for 57 years before she passed away in 2009. He was the father of Julie and Randy Fancher, as well as grandfather to their six children, great grandfather of two. He was loved by his family and friends because he was extraordinarily kind and gave freely of his time and efforts. He coached his children and grandchildren in a variety of sports. He volunteered as a coach at the Tabernacle Recreational League, often providing rides to players whose parents had no transportation. He taught Sunday school and served as a church camp counselor for the Indianapolis Baptist Temple for a number of years.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 57 years, Grace I. (Deckard) Fancher and daughter, Julie Fancher Sollenberger. Survivors include his son, Harold “Randy” Fancher, II (Mary); grandchildren: Samantha Miller, Andrea and Eric Fancher and Grant, Stephen and Tommy Sollenberger.
A memorial service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 23, 2016 at Flanner and Buchanan- Washington Park East, with calling there from 11:00 a.m. until the service time.
Memorial contributions may be made in Harold’s memory to the American Cancer Society.
