H.R. "Bud" Sites

H.R. “Bud” Sites, Jr.

Howard R. Sites, Jr, 73, of Indianapolis, better known to his family and friends as “Bud,” passed away at home on Monday morning, September 20th. He was a collector of many things, most importantly the love and affection of those around him. A graduate of Arlington High School and Illinois Wesleyan University, he also did post-graduate work at Northwestern University, where he served as Dean of Graduate Housing. He then went on to Lake Forest College, where he was the youngest dean in the nation at the time. Bud worked at AUL, Maxicare and Consolidated Insurance Services, and went on to establish Sites Benefits Consultants, a successful employee benefits management firm.

Bud was an IndyCar Racing fanatic and served as a tire engineer for Firestone IndyCar. He was also an avid fan of the Chicago Cubs and the Indianapolis Colts, and attended many art fairs and rock concerts, most notably The Rolling Stones. Bud was also the proud grandpa of three darling granddaughters.

He is survived by his wife, Kathleen (Heilman) Sites; his son, Brett (Elizabeth) Sites of Wilmington, NC; his granddaughters, Burkley, Blair and Bree; his sister, Carol (Donald) Turner of Kenosha, WI; two nieces, Melissa Turner of Chicago, IL and Alyssa (Jarrod) Campbell of Indianapolis and his nephew, Patrick (Annika) Heilman of Edesheim, Germany. He was preceded in death by his parents, Howard R. Sites and Marilyn (Burkley) Sites of Indianapolis.

Visitation will be held Tuesday, September 28 from 11:00 AM – 2:00 PM at Flanner Buchanan-Memorial Park., 9350 East Washington St., Indianapolis; with his Funeral Service at 2:00 PM.  Bud will be laid to rest at Oaklawn Memorial Gardens, 9700 Allisonville Rd., Indianapolis.

The family is requesting masks be worn inside the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hamilton County Humane Society, 10501 Hague Rd., Fishers, IN 46038.
