Grace Featherston of Carmel, IN, passed away on April 13, 2026, at the age of 97. She was born in Madison, WI, on May 15, 1928, to parents, Edward and Olivia (Moore) Wilkins.
Grace’s family moved to Florida when she was a young girl. She attended Winter Park High School. Grace met the love of her life, Raymond Featherston, and they were married September 30, 1946. They moved to Indiana. Grace and her family were members of Broad Ripple/Allisonville Christian Church for years. Grace and her husband Ray were longtime members of Idlewold Golf and Country Club. They were also in bowling leagues for years. Grace’s love of games and competitions started when she was a young girl. She loved to play card games with her father. Her love of card games continued throughout her life. Grace enjoyed going to PrimeLife Senior Center and the American Legion in Carmel, IN to play euchre. She also enjoyed playing cards with family members. Grace was also an avid reader and seamstress. Grace loved her family and was blessed to have five living generations that she saw regularly.
Grace and Ray Featherston spent nearly 56 wonderful years together before his passing in 1999. She is survived by children, Gary (Stacia) Featherston, Sharon (Wes) Elliott; grandchildren, Angie (Chris) Hoye, Matt (Sherri) Featherston, April (AJ) Mills; great-grandchildren, Ashley (Jordan) Cooey, Colton Wilson, Kayley Featherston, Matthew Featherston, Isabelle Mills, Evelyn Mills; and great-great grandchildren Gabriella W. and Hudson Cooey.
She was preceded in death by her parents and brother George Wilkins.
The family would like to state our appreciation for the wonderful loving care that Grace received at Rawlins House Nursing Home in Pendleton, IN during her final months.
In lieu of flowers a donation may be made to PrimeLife Enrichment, Inc. or The American Legion.
A Funeral Service will be held at 2pm, Saturday, April 25, 2026, at Flanner Buchanan - Carmel (325 E. Carmel Dr. Carmel, IN 46032). Visitation for family and friends to gather will be held on April 25, 2026 from 12pm – 2pm at Flanner Buchanan – Carmel. Burial will be held directly following services at Union Chapel Cemetery.
