Gordon Elbert Washmuth
76, of Indianapolis, IN peacefully passed away on November 6, 2014. Gordon was born in Indianapolis, IN on November 17, 1937 to Helen and Martin Washmuth.
Gordon attended Broad Ripple High School then joined the Marines in 1956 and served until 1959. He joined the Indianapolis Fire Department and served his community, retiring after 28 years.
He loved wood working, the arts, travel, Nascar and most of all, his country. Gordon was also a proud member of the Retired Fire Fighters Club and active member of The International Association of Fire Fighters Local 416.
Gordon is survived by his son, Buddy and Debbie Washmuth and step-son, Michael Piel; granddaughter, Lauren Washmuth and great-grandchildren, Ethan and Madison.
Funeral services will be held at 1pm on Monday, November 10, 2014 in Flanner and Buchanan- Broad Ripple, where friends may call from 11am until the service time. Burial with military honors will follow in Oaklawn Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
