Gordon O. Edwards, a cherished member of the Indianapolis community, passed away on November 21, 2025, in Greenfield, Indiana. Born on November 1, 1935, in Indianapolis, Gordon lived a life marked by love, adventure, and a profound dedication to his family and friends.
For twenty years, Gordon enjoyed a rewarding career as a Tool and Dye Maker, where his craftsmanship and attention to detail were highly regarded. His military service in the Air Force further shaped his character, as he was stationed in Panama and South America, experiences that filled him with stories that would delight family and friends alike.
Gordon's personality was characterized by his loving and caring nature, traits that endeared him to all who knew him. He was a true family man, taking great pride in his children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild.
Gordon is survived by his son Tim (Janet) Edwards, his daughters Tammy Edwards, Denice Manthe, and Marcia Goins, as well as his son Randy Blackard. Gordon also leaves behind his brother, Mike Edwards, along with 13 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great-grandchild.
Gordon was proceeded in death by his beloved wife, Norma Jean Edwards, and his dear son, Rohn Edwards, as well as two sisters, Roberta and Cynthia. The loss of Gordon will be deeply felt by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
Gordon's interests were varied and colorful; he was an avid fisherman, enjoyed traveling, loved going out to dinner, found joy in playing golf, and delighted in riding his bicycle. He embraced life with an adventurous spirit that inspired others to cherish their own experiences.
A visitation honoring Gordon’s life will be held on November 29, 2025, from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM, followed by a funeral service at 2:00 PM, all taking place at Flanner Buchanan-Washington Park East, located at 10722 E Washington St, Indianapolis, IN 46229. A graveside service will follow from 3:00 PM to 4:00 PM.
