Gloria Shirley Burton Walls, 87, of Indianapolis, passed away on March 6th after a lengthy illness. A life-long Methodist minister's wife, Shirley became an elementary/special education teacher and built the Sunshine School, the first school for special needs children in Seymour, Indiana. She was a graduate of Indiana University, a member of Meridian Street United Methodist Church and active in the PEO Sorority. Shirley is survived by her husband Charles/Jack, daughters Sally and Maribeth, daughter-in-law Wendy, grandson Christian, brother-in-law Frank Zilla, nieces Gail Bardach, Kate Zilla and Sally Nickele, nephew Frank Zilla, Jr and nine great nieces and nephews. Visitation will be Friday, March 16th, from 5-8pm at Flanner and Buchanan – Broad Ripple, 1305 Broad Ripple Ave. with services on Saturday, March 17th, at 10:30am at Meridian Street Methodist Church, 5500 N. Meridian with a reception to follow. Burial to be held at Center Ridge Cemetery in Sullivan, Indiana. You are invited to go to the Guest Book page to pass along your personal message or tell a story.
