Gloria Shirley Burton Walls, 87, of Indianapolis, passed away on March 6th after a lengthy illness.
A life-long Methodist minister's wife, Shirley became an elementary/special education teacher and built the Sunshine School, the first school for special needs children in Seymour, Indiana. She was a graduate of Indiana University, a member of Meridian Street United Methodist Church and active in the PEO Sorority.
Shirley is survived by her husband Charles/Jack, daughters Sally and Maribeth, daughter-in-law Wendy, grandson Christian, brother-in-law Frank Zilla, nieces Gail Bardach, Kate Zilla and Sally Nickele, nephew Frank Zilla, Jr and nine great nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be Friday, March 16th, from 5-8pm at Flanner and Buchanan – Broad Ripple, 1305 Broad Ripple Ave. with services on Saturday, March 17th, at 10:30am at Meridian Street Methodist Church, 5500 N. Meridian with a reception to follow. Burial to be held at Center Ridge Cemetery in Sullivan, Indiana.
