Glora Jean (Grant) Kirby went home to be with the Lord on January 16, 2021.
She was born in Hurricane, West Virginia on February 3, 1945 to Mansel C. Grant
and Alma J. (Faulkner) Grant, and graduated from Hurricane High School in 1962.
Glora, who went by Jean most of her life, later moved to Indiana where she
worked as a secretary for Reith-Riley, Allison, and Rolls-Royce. She married
Richard L. (Dick) Kirby on September 3, 1996.
Jean loved cooking, baking, reading, and spending time with her family. She was
preceded in her death by her parents. She is survived by her loving husband,
Dick, and her eight cherished sisters: Vivian Roberts, Ruth Koontz, Pat Kitsmiller,
Deborah Bass, Carolyn Parsons, Sandra Arthur, Cecelia Browning, and Mary
Ashby. She is also survived by four children – Donna (Gibson) Barker, Steven
Wallen, Stephanie (Wallen) Gonzalez, and Shari (Wallen) Lipps; two step-children
– Scott Kirby and Karina Kirby, eight precious grandchildren, two
step-grandchildren, eleven great-grandchildren as well as a host of nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held at Flanner & Buchanan Funeral Center, 2950 N. High
School Road, Speedway Indiana on Wednesday, January 20 from 5-7pm and
Thursday, January 21 from 11am-noon. A private funeral service for the family
will be held afterward.
