Gladys M. Thompson, 81, of Carmel passed away December 23, 2025. She was born March 1, 1944, in Roscoe, Minnesota the daughter of the late Albert and Elizabeth (Braegelmann) Erkens.
Gladys graduated from nursing school and pursued a rewarding career as an LPN. She was a member of the Red Hat Society and she enjoyed knitting and crocheting. She will be remembered for wonderful sense of humor, always appreciating a good laugh and for her baking, especially her gingersnap cookies.
She is survived by her two daughters, Lisa (Denis) Boland and Heather (Christopher) Mayhugh; three grandchildren, Mira Boland, Maeve Boland, and Isaiah Mayhugh; and two brothers, Kenneth (Judy) Erkens and Melvin (Mary) Erkens. She was preceded in passing by a brother, Edwin Erkens.
A Celebration of Life will be from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. Friday, April 17, 2026, at Flanner Buchanan - Carmel, 325 East Carmel Drive.
