Gladys Matchette

Gladys (Sparks) Matchette 89 of Indianapolis died April 08, 2012. Gladys was born August 23, 1922 in Ripley County, IN to Elmer and Pearl (Hughes) Sparks. Gladys graduated in 1944 from St. Vincent Hospital School of Nursing and began her professional career in the Nursery for St. Vincent Hospital. She then moved to Albuquerque, New Mexico and worked as a nurse for the V.A. Hospital in New Mexico before returning to the V.A. Hospital in Indianapolis. Gladys retired from St. Vincent Home Health Care as a private duty nurse in 1988. Gladys married Joseph Marion Matchette on May 24, 1947 in Albuquerque and he preceded her in death in November of 1998. Funeral services will be held on Friday April 13, 2012 at Flanner and Buchanan-Washington Park North at 2 PM with calling one half hour prior to the service. Gladys is survived by her children Robert (Anne) Matchette and Susan (Chris) Jordan and her four grandchildren Andrew and Amelia Matchette and Sam and Luke (Rachel) Jordan. Entombment will be in Washington Park North Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Vincent Hospice.
