Gladys I. Brown, 99, went home to be with the Lord on September 22, in her home surrounded by her loving daughter Debbie, her son-in-law, John and her beloved cat Amos.
Gladys was born on April 21, 1917 in New Albany, Indiana to the late Amy and William Sands. She graduated from Washington High School and spent much of her career running the ophthalmology office for Dr. Cuthbert. She was a bright vivacious woman who enjoyed living life to the fullest. She loved traveling with Debbie and John, but her real passion in life was animals. Gladys volunteered for the Indianapolis Zoo with her sister Margaret, and she was involved with many local animal rescue organizations such as; Second Chance Rescue, FACE, and Cat’s Haven.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her loving husband Myron Brown, her son Denny Brown, and her two sisters, Minnie and Margaret. She is survived by her daughters Rosiland Foist (Gene) and Debbie Kirkham (John), 4 grandchildren and many great-grandchildren.
She loved living at Olde Mill and cherished the friendships she made with many neighbors. Gladys was blessed by her Lord to have had such great health for her life. The family would like to thank the care takers from Visiting Angels and Great Lakes Hospice for all of their help and support during her final days and the wonderful care that was shown, the family could not have done it without your help.
There will not be a funeral service held, but donations may be made in Gladys’ honor to any of the wonderful organizations listed above.
