Gilda Zimmerman

Gilda Zimmerman, 95, of Indianapolis, passed away July 30^th, 2021. She was born April 23^rd, 1926. Gilda was raised in Indianapolis by Ida and Clarence Hamant.

She graduated form Broad Ripple high school in 1944. She was employed by the government for many years doing clerical work for the Finance Center at Fort Benjamin Harrison. She continued her career in Leesburg, Florida with the social security administration until 1982, when she moved back to Indianapolis.

Gilda was an avid reader and enjoyed crossword puzzles. She will be greatly missed by her friends at Wyndmoor of Castleton, where she lived since 2014.

She leaves behind her children David (Susan) Lord, Karen Denmark, and Bruce (Diane) Lord; grandchildren Sarah (Mark) Lord Wilson, Jennifer (John) Denmark Whitmore, and Marissa Denmark Patterson; six great-grandchildren, nephew Steve (Keri) Spaulding, and Cousin Celestine Hamant.

Gilda is preceded in death by her parents; the father of her children Howard Lord; her second husband Russell Zimmerman; and her sister Dolores “Dee” Spaulding.

Visitation for Gilda will be Saturday, August 7th^th, at St. Simon Catholic Church from 10am-11am. Her memorial mass will be at 11am. She will be laid to rest at Calvary Cemetery.
