Gilbert 'Gil' Wayne Ernst Jr.

Gilbert 'Gil' Wayne Ernst Jr., passed peacefully Friday June 28th 2024. He was born to Gilbert Wayne Ernst and Joan Ernst in Indianapolis, Indiana. He was a 1972 graduate of Howe High School. He retired as a CDL driver from Holman Enterprises in 2019. He was also a dedicated member and deacon of Heather Hills Baptist Church. Gil was known to be loving, cheerful, and a jokester to all those that knew him.

He is preceded in death by both his parents, as well as his sister, Dorothy Ernst. 

He is survived by his wife of 41 years, Angela Ernst; as well as his children: daughter Ginger Pollitt & son-in-law Kevin Pollitt, sons Gil (Belinda) Ernst III, Chad Ernst, and daughters Amber Ernst, Kianna Ernst, & Natasha Ernst. His grandchildren: Brooke Pollitt, Brittany Pollitt, Kianna Ernst, Ariana Archer, Natasha Ernst, Timothy Ernst, Gilbert Ernst IV, Makayla Ernst, Lydia Ernst, & Gavyn Ernst. Great grandchildren: Violet Baurle & Javier Reyes. Nephew Mike (Ashley) Sears & nieces Jennifer (Jason) Wooldridge & Pamela (Jerry) Burkhart. 

A visitation will be held on Tuesday, July 2, 2024, from 12PM-1PM, at Heather Hills Baptist Church, 1421 N. German Church Road Indianapolis, IN 46229. The funeral will begin at 1PM. Gil will be laid to rest in Washington Park East Cemetery.
