Geraldine "Gerry" E. Keene, 90, Indianapolis, passed away December 25, 2013. She was born November 12, 1923, in Buffalo, NY, the daughter of the late Harold and Frieda (Krueger) Dressel. She married Charles R. Keene on September 12, 1943. He preceded her in passing on March 13, 2009.
Gerry was an active member of Northminster Presbyterian Church, serving as a Deaconess and in the Stephen Ministry. She also enjoyed volunteering for the Conner Prairie Sewing Guild for over 10 years. Several local charities were the fortunate recipients of her knitting (hats, mittens and scarves) over the years. Hundreds more family members and friends have received expressions of her love in needlework.
She is survived by her three children, Kenneth C. (Margaret F.) Keene, Lebanon, Lynne C. Keene, Indianapolis, and Patti E. (Dr. Charles) Nelson, Avon; four grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; and a sister, Lois C. Webb. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Ralph and Ronald Dressel.
Memorial services will be 6:00 p.m. Monday, December 30, 2013, at Northminster Presbyterian Church, 1660 Kessler Blvd. East. Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. until the time of service. Memorial contributions may be directed to Northminster Presbyterian Church. Arrangements were entrusted to Flanner and Buchanan – Broad Ripple. The family requests for the people who were fortunate to receive some of Gerry's needlework (knitting and quilting) to please bring items with you to the church for display.
