Gerald Wendorf

Gerald L. Wendorf, 90 of Carmel, died peacefully on Tuesday, March 24, 2015. Jerry was born in Wilton, WI to the late Eva and Vernon Wendorf on October 17, 1924. He was a 1943 graduate of Green Bay West High School. Jerry served in the US Navy, serving in WWII and was discharged in 1946. He joined the Navy Reserves and was recalled in 1950 for the Korean War, where he served on a destroyer for two years, before being discharged in 1952. He graduated from the University of Wisconsin with a Bachelor's in Economics. Jerry started his 33 year career in Railroad Sales and Operations with Pennsylvania Railroad, later Penn Central, before retiring in 1985 from ConRail. Jerry was a member of the Millersville Masonic Lodge, the Scottish Rite and the Murat Shrine, where he volunteered with the Transportation Club; taking children to the Shriner's Hospital. Memorial services will be at 7:00 pm Wednesday, April 1 at Flanner and Buchanan-Carmel, where family and friends are invited to call one hour prior to the service. He was preceded in death by his wife, Marlene Simonis Wendorf. He is survived by his children, Craig Wendorf and Janet (husband, Peter) Klein.
