Gerald Ray 'Jerry' Buis

Gerald Ray Buis 64, Greencastle, IN., died February 17, 2013 at his home. Born on July 4, 1948 in Greencastle to Arthur "Windy" Sr. & Myrtle Buis. He married Jeannie Hobbs December 29, 1967 in Greencastle. Gerald is survived by his wife of 45 years, his children, Barbara (Doug) Beecher, Wendy (Chris) Gray, both of Washburn, IL., John Buis of Eureka, IL., Amanda (Teddy) Messer of Niles, OH., and his dog, Lily. He is also survived by his siblings Nora Miller, Norris (Jack) Sears, both of Greencastle, Caroline (Brad) Bemis of Indianapolis, Arthur (Mary) Buis of Peoria, IL., and Ralph (Phyllis) Buis and Kenny Buis both of Greencastle. Gerald is survived by his 14 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents, brothers Virgil and Charles, and nephews Douglas Buis and Nathaniel Detro. Gerald retired from Komatsu as a welding instructor and Boilermakers Local 60 Union as a welder mechanic. He was loved very much by his family and friends and will be greatly missed by everyone. In lieu of flowers, memorials in Gerald's memory may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
