Gerald C. Jenkins

Gerald Carl Jenkins, 83, of Indianapolis passed away March 21, 2013 of natural causes. He was born November 9, 1929 in Detroit, Michigan to Katherine and Frederick Jenkins, Sr.; he was the third of four children. He was married to Patricia (Bland) Jenkins for 47 years before she passed away in 2004. He graduated from Arsenal Technical High School and then joined the Marine Corps, serving in the Korean Conflict and surviving the Chosin Reservoir battle. Upon returning home from his military deployment, he trained as a Pattern Maker and worked for the Truck and Bus Group for General Motors in downtown Indianapolis for over 40 years. Before his health declined, Gerald was a member of The Marine Corps League, The Chosin Few, and Indian Lake Country Club where he enjoyed golf and cutthroat euchre. He was always an artist at heart, creating the most beautiful objects out of wood, lasting symbols of his love for his family. Gerald is survived by his two daughters Janice Jenkins and Jill Jenkins, his brother Fred Jenkins and sister Kitty Safford, and numerous nieces and nephews.
