Georgia Michelson

Georgia Michelson, 65 of Carmel, passed away at home on Friday, October 15th after a long brave battle against cancer. Born on October 5, 1945 in a small village Thespia, Greece, Georgia came to the United States in 1961. She initially resided in Minneapolis, MN where she went to high school. Later she became a radiology technologist. Georgia met the love of her life Gary Michelson. They were married on August 24, 1969. Gary and Georgia went on to live in Hartford, CT; Philadelphia, PA; Mansfield and Dublin, OH before living in Indianapolis in 1997. Georgia enjoyed a fruitful life, and after many years of employment with Value City Furniture, in retirement she often swam with her wonderful friends, played tennis and bridge, sewed, and as "YiaYia" spent her best time with her grandchildren. Georgia was very active in her church and supported many charitable causes, including Dress for Success, Catholic Charities and Breast Cancer Awareness. Friends looked to her for her generosity, wisdom and her unwavering support of her loved ones. She leaves behind a loving family including her spouse, Gary, son James, daughter Kristina (Andrew), grandchildren Anna Sophia, Constantine "Gus”, brother Angelo of Minneapolis (Debbie), sister-in-law Janet, brothers-in-law Ronald (Karen), William (Carolyn), and numerous nieces and nephews. Georgia also has a large extended family in Greece. Services will be held at Holy Trinity Church in Carmel, IN on Monday October 18th with visitation from 10 a.m. - 1pm and service at 1 p.m. Burial will be in Minneapolis, Minnesota. In lieu of flowers, memorials in Georgia’s name are preferred to the Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church, Carmel, Indiana.
