George William Darland

George W. Darland, 77, passed away October 18, 2011. He was born July 15, 1934 to the late Benjamin and Ray (Divine) Darland. Survivors include; wife, Mary L. Darland; children, Marie L. (Tim) Longmont, Co., Karl W. (Debbie) Darland, New Castle, IN, Nancy A (Tom) Moore Indianapolis, IN, Marilyn Schafer, Winder, Ga.; grandchildren, Katie, Joey, Mark Broderick, Dominique, Sean, Austin and Bridgette Darland, Marie, Madison Moore, Chad Moore and Samantha Sisk; great-grandson, Landon Sisk; brothers, Marvin (Pearl) Darland, Lexington, Ky., Floyd (Pat) Darland, Indianapolis, IN, Connie (Joyce) Darland, Harrodsburg, KY; sisters, Margaret Ward, Harrodsburg, KY Ruth Hatter, Danville, KY, Gloria Murphy, Harrodsburg, KY George was preceded in death by brothers, J.B. Darland, Earl D. Darland; sister, Virginia Matherly and his first grandson Nicholas Benjamin Schafer. George retired in the early 80's from Schwitzer after 25 years of employment. George was a member of the Oakland Masonic Lodge and the Murat Shrine. He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren. George liked to travel, play Texas Hold'em and fishing. Friends may call Friday from 4:00-8:00PM with a Masonic service at 7pm at Flanner and Buchanan Funeral Center Memorial Park 9350 E. Washington St. A funeral service will be Saturday at 12:00 noon at the funeral center. Burial will be at Memorial Park Cemetery.
