George Maloian

March 19, 1941 — July 26, 2011

George “Sharkey” Maloian 70, of Indianapolis, formerly of East Chicago, passed away on July 26, 2011. Retired from Inland Steel Harbor Works, Indiana Department of Revenue and H & R Block. A 1960 graduate of E.C. Washington H.S. Semi pro football player for the Calumet Steelers. A coach for Pop Warner Football and Indiana Harbor Little League and Senior League Baseball. A member of Club KI-YOGA, Steel Workers Union 1010 and former member of St. George Serbian Church (East Chicago). Preceded in death by his parents Mikhail and Tagouhi Maloian, brothers Vardgus and Ruben Maloian and sisters Ann Clinton, Arpina Maloian and Susan Biggs. Survived by wife Martha Zajac Maloian, son Michael (Lesley) Maloian, daughter Karen Maloian, grandchildren Michael, Kayin and Kaia, sisters Lillian Banker, Mary Maloian and Rose Boyan and numerous nieces, nephews and god-children. The family will receive friends in the community room at Flanner and Buchanan Funeral Center-Speedway from 3 to 8 pm, Sunday, August 7, 2011. Remains buried at Calumet Park, Merrillville, IN. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to Speedway High School Athletic Department, checks payable to Speedway High School, in memory of George Maloian, 5357 W. 25th St., Speedway, IN 46224.
