George M. Vigna (82), born October 25, 1934, died suddenlyon July 21, 2016. He was the son of Tony and Bessie Vigna, born in Fairmont,WV. He graduated from Tech High Schoolwhere he met lifelong friends, many of whom still meet get together at Si Greene’sPub. George served in the United StatesAir Force as an airplane mechanic for which he was very proud. George loved his tomato and grape garden, butnot as much as golf. He hit ahole-in-one in 2011; it was a great highlight in his life. Above all, George lovedhis family. He was such a character at all of the family parties and was veryclose to his children and grandchildren, always cheering them on in all oftheir sporting activities. He was a member of Little Flower Catholic Church.
Survivors include: brother, Carl Arnold; sisters, Helen VignaMouser and Linda Vigna Johnson from TN; children: Yauncy Alkire, Jr. and YvonnePritt; grandchildren: Kyleigh Alkire, Yauncy Alkire III, Jensen Pritt and RyanPritt; friend and ex-wife, Joann Vigna; and his many special nieces andnephews. Preceded in death by: mother, Bessie Vigna; father, Tony Vigna; and siblings,Billy Arnold and Vera (Kitty) Denny. He will be missed by all!
Funeral services will be held 2:00 PM, Tuesday, July 26, 2016 at Flanner and Buchanan-Washington Park East, 10722 E Washington St, Indianapolis. Visitation will be held Monday from 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM at the funeral home. To honor George’s militaryservice, there will be a full military funeral. Memorial contributions may be made to theCarline R. Day Scholarship Fund, c/o the Hancock County Community Foundationand Gideon International.
