George Lee Choung was born in Mount Holly, New Jersey on August 21st, 1933 to George Lee Choung and Anne Fisher. He attended Catholic School in Philadelphia and joined the United States Army at the age of sixteen. George fought in the Korean and Vietnam Wars. He started as a mess cook and ultimately retired as a Command Sergeant Major.
During his military career he attended college, achieving his PhD without thesis. He obtained his professorship at Buffalo State College.
He began training the Silver Hi Lites Color Guard with his mother, Anne Fisher, which later evolved to become the National Championship Winning Stingrays Drill Team.
George was a member of Murat Shrine Temple, the Cooties, Veterans of Foreign Wars, AmVets Post 99, Millersville Masonic Lodge, Swords of Bunker Hill, 98th Division Sr. Men's Drill Team, Ladies Auxiliary Drill Team, New Bethel Baptist Church Drill Team, and ROTC programs for Howe, Arsenal Tech, Broad Ripple, and Pike High Schools.
George loved horse racing, game shows, bowling, and buffets.
He is survived by his wife, Donna Choung; son, Jackie Choung; daughters, Cerissa Marsh and Janine Choung; 5 grandchildren; and his beloved
Jr. Stingrays Drill Team.
