George B. Figg

George B. Figg, 100, Mooresville passed away July 5, 2012 at St. Frances Hospital, Mooresville. He was born March 7, 1912 in Marion County the son of Bessie (DeVore) and James Figg. George retired from Bridgeport Brass in 1975 after 35 years as a purchasing agent. He was the family historian with his vast years of knowledge and sharp memory, passing on stories to all. He grew up in "Dogtown" Indianapolis and still held on to those roots and friends. George also was a talented artist; painting, sculpting and writing are among the few of his loves along with the outdoors, fishing and hunting. He attended West Washington Presbyterian Chuch with his wife, Melba for many years. Mr. Figg is survived by three daughters, Patricia CoKain, (Jerry), Shirley Heaton, and Carol Linder; 15 grandchildren; 23 great grandchildren; 7 great-great grandchildren; and a brother, Richard Figg, (Mary), CA. He was preceded in death by his parents; dear wife of 74 years, Melba (Hail); two sons, Tom and Robert; two grandsons, Brad Foster and Brian Figg and 7 siblings. Services will be 12:00 P.M. July 11, 2012 at Flanner and Buchanan-Floral Park, with visitation two hours prior. You are invited to go to the Guest Book page to pass along your personal message or tell a story.
