Geneva "Gene" Gigax, 100, of Indianapolis died August 30, 2012 at her home in Windridge. She was born March 3, 1912 in Louisville, Kentucky to Lillian and William Schrecker. She married Floyd Gigax in 1935 and moved to Indianapolis, where they opened General Trailer Company and operated it until Floyd retired in 1985.
Gene was very active in Girl Scouts, where she was a leader for 3 years. She was also on the Board of Cathedral High School for 4 years and President of the Mothers Club. Prior to that she volunteered at the Little Red Door, the Children's Museum and Community North Hospital. She was a founding member of St. Matthew Catholic Church.
Gene was an ardent bridge player and a member of several bridge groups over the years and played up to the week she departed this life.
She is survived by her daughter Connie, son Ken, daughter-in-law Liz, adopted daughter Penny and favorite nephew Bob Joss and wife Margaret and family.
Visitation will be on Thursday, September 6, 2012 at Flanner and Buchanan Funeral Center - Broad Ripple from 4:00 – 7:00 P.M. A prayer service will take place at 6:30 PM. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Matthew Catholic Church at 56th Street and Binford Avenue at 10:00 A.M. on Friday, September 7, 2012. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to St. Vincent Hospital, St. Matthew Church or Second Helpings.
