Genell Fay Risley

September 4, 1928 — July 17, 2013

Genell Fay (Gregory) Risley, 84, went home to the Lord, Wednesday, July 17, 2013. Genell was born Sept 4, 1928 in Scottsville, KY to M.H. and Alice M.(Tuck) Gregory. An active member of Landmark Baptist Church for many years, she retired from Service Supply in 1996 after 28 years. Her parents; a sister, Lora Manning; and brothers Otis and Buiel Gregory and Twin brothers who died at birth preceded her in death. Married June 12, 1955, she is survived by her husband William Risley; children Deborah Higinbotham (Scott) and William Risley, Jr.; grandchildren Stephanie Knepley (Scott), Jennifer Zufelt (Shawn), Jarrod Lee (Jen), David and Tayler Risley; nine great-grandchildren, Twin sister Lavell Finley (Jack), and several nieces and nephews. Genell lived her younger years in and around Bowling Green, KY moving to the Indianapolis area in her early twenty's. She was devoted to her family and friends, always wanting to make people comfortable by friendly words. She was quite the prankster as anyone acquainted with her could attest to. It was always difficult to discipline her grandkids and now her great-grandkids when she was the one who usually started the mischieft. Funeral services will be held 10:00 AM, Saturday, July 20th at Landmark Baptist Church, 7010 E Thompson Rd, Indianapolis followed by burial at Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be held 4:00 PM – 8:00 PM, Friday, July 19th, at Flanner and Buchanan Memorial Park, 9350 E Washington St, Indianapolis. Memorial contributions may be made to Landmark Baptist Church.
