Gene R. Sullivan, 74, passed away on January 10, 2016 in Indianapolis, IN.
Gene was born on June 7, 1941 to the late Robert and Marie Sullivan in Valparaiso, IN. He received his bachelor’s degree in Industrial Education- Applied Technology Teaching and master’s degree in Industrial Education both from Purdue University. He was later employed by Purdue University for 37 years at both the Calumet and West Lafayette Campuses. He worked in Space Management and Academic Scheduling, was an Associate Professor of Architectural Technology, and was later named Director of Academic Facilities Management at the Calumet Campus.
Gene was a past member of the Hammond Indiana and West Lafayette Indiana Methodist Church, and he was an avid golfer at the Elks Club in West Lafayette and Bear Creek Golf Course in South Carolina.
Gene is survived by his wife Carolyn Sullivan, daughter Lynn (Pete) Sullivan, brother Dale (Trish) Sullivan, 8 stepchildren; Ed (Margo) Esgate, John (Teresa) Esgate, Pat (Bren) Esgate, Peg Esgate, Tom (Jeannie) Esgate, Stu (Kathy) Featherston, Lisa (Scot) Evans, Sandra (Bill) Asbury, and thirteen grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, sister Joan (Lee) Baur, and wife Mildred Esgate Sullivan.
Friends and family are invited to gather on Wednesday, January 13, 2016 from 10-11:00am at the Hoosier Village Chapel, 9875 Cherryleaf Drive, Indianapolis, the funeral will follow at 11:00am. Funeral arrangements entrusted to Flanner and Buchanan-Zionsville.
