Gene Huskey, Jr., 80, of Parma, Ohio, passed away on October 1, 2023. He was born on June 6, 1943, in McGee, Arkansas, to parents, Gene Huskey and Marie (Calhoun) Huskey.
In 1964, Gene dedicated himself to serving his country by joining the United States Army. His military service was a testament to his patriotism and unwavering commitment to protecting the freedoms we hold dear. Gene's time in the Army taught him discipline, resilience, and an enduring sense of duty that would shape his character for years to come.
Family meant everything to Gene. After returning home from overseas, he married the love of his life, Lula (Nelson) Huskey on November 16, 1964, in Cleveland, Ohio. They embarked on a beautiful journey together filled with love and laughter. Their loving bond served as an inspiration to their children, Crystal, Lenise, and Gail, instilling in them the values of integrity and unconditional love.
Gene is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Lula Huskey; one granddaughter; four grandsons; brother, Arnold Huskey; sisters, Florence Jacoway and Mildred Washington (Henry).
He was preceded in death by his parents, Gene and Marie Huskey; daughters, Crystal Jeanne Huskey (Matthews), Lenise Maria Huskey (Johnson), and Gail Joyce Huskey (Gay); and one brother, Keith Huskey.
Visitation for Gene will be from 11a-1p on Friday, October 13, 2023, at Flanner Buchanan – Oaklawn Memorial Gardens (Good Shepherd Chapel) – 9700 Allisonville Rd., Indianapolis, IN 46250, with a funeral service immediately following at 1pm. Burial with military honors will take place at Oaklawn Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
Gene Huskey, Jr. will be deeply missed but never forgotten. His loving spirit will continue to guide and inspire all who knew him. May he rest in eternal peace knowing that his time on earth was a gift to all those fortunate enough to have crossed paths with him.
