Gearline Wilson

January 21, 1963 — June 24, 2025

Indianapolis

Gearline Wilson was born January 21st, 1963, in Indianapolis, IN, to J.D. & Christine Wilson. She grew up in a big family with 10 siblings.

She professed her love for God at a young age and grew up attending Southern Baptist Church with her family.

Gearline went to Arlington High School and had a passion for cooking from a young age. She loved cooking for her family and was well-known by many to be an incredible cook & chef. She worked as a cook for many years at various restaurants and senior-living facilities. One of her most famous confections was her strawberry cheesecake—often said to be one of the best ever! She loved music and dancing to old school tunes from the likes of the Isley Brothers & Anita Baker. She was also known for her impeccable sense of fashion and interior design, including an extensive collection of shoes and accessories.

Gearline was extremely passionate about family, as she fiercely loved her 6 children and 14 grandkids. She was with her life partner, Gary, for over 40 years. They enjoyed many family road trips over the years. She enjoyed riding the Harley with Gary and rode with him around the country. She was a fiercely devoted grandmother, and her grandchildren brought so much joy to her life.

Gearline departed this life on June 24th, 2025, at the age of 62 years old. Her parents, J.D. and Christine, 4 sisters, Joyce, Marylin, Carolyn, Margaret, 3 brothers, Ricky, David, and Bill, 3 nephews, Micheal (Bookie), Jason, and Derek (Nannoo), and her niece, Mia, preceded her in death. She is survived by her 6 children; Tony, Jaime, Jeremy (Dimples), Tiara (Tinky) Jasmine and Taylor (Monte), her life partner Gary, her 14 grandchildren, 3 sisters including her twin sister Christine, Jeannette, and Vicky, 2 brothers Michael and James (J.D. Jr), and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family around the country, friends, and her last surviving uncle, Walter Wheeler.

Gearline was a light to everyone around her. Her laughter was infectious, and her joy was abundant. She was a source of encouragement to many, often a go-to for words of wisdom and guidance. She was determined, extremely hard-working, and devoted to her loving family. Her smile, love, presence, and everything else about her will very deeply be missed.
