Gearldine 'Gerri' Helton

Gearldine "Gerri" Gore Bilbrey Helton was born January 27th, 1933 in Livingston, Overton County, Tennessee, the oldest daughter of Columbus Richard Gore and Leona Bledsoe Gore. She was married to Joe Wheeler Bilbrey in 1947 and second to Wendell Helton in 1964, both of which ended in divorce. She was a homemaker and also held various jobs as a waitress and in the deli department of Preston Safeway grocery store. She had grown up in Tennessee, living in Overton County until she married, then to Nashville where she lived until 1955. That year, she and her husband Joe moved to Anderson, Indiana, and later moved to Indianapolis. After their divorce and Gerri's marriage to Wendall Helton, she lived in the New Palestine and Greenfield areas. In her later years she bought a house in Chesterfield, Indiana where she lived until her battle with Alzheimer's made it too difficult to live on her own. She spent her last days at the HCR Manor Care nursing home in Anderson, Indiana where she passed away in her sleep February 19th, 2014. She leaves a daughter Peggy Bilbrey Roberts, son Jim Bilbrey (Cindy Rice), Wendy Helton Hardin (Shawn), grandchildren Jim Roberts, Angela Roberts Higgins, Karissa Thompson (Doug), Gina Brunson (Jon), Joe Bilbrey, Tasha McCubbins (Shawn Stephens), Renee Rice Mulgado (Ernesto), and grandson Hunter May. She also leaves 22 great-grandchildren to mourn her loss.
