GAYLE ANN PARKE

Gayle was born on February 28, 1942, in Elyria, Ohio to Mack and Jean Salladay. She grew up in Elyria and graduated from Elyria High School in 1960. She then attended Miami University, majoring in Education. After graduation in 1964, and a summer in Europe, Gayle taught World Cultures at Canon-McMillan High School in Canonsburg, Pennsylvania.

Gayle married Bob, whom she met at Miami (a Miami Merger), on June 10, 1967. After following Bob to Athens, Georgia, and Washington, DC during Bob’s service in the United States Navy, she was a stay-at-home mom with her three children, living in and near Speedway, Indiana.

After becoming an empty nester, Gayle spent several years working as Office Manager for Shank Public Relations Counselors.

During her life, Gayle enjoyed cooking, crafting, gardening, reading and traveling with her family. She also enjoyed being involved in various activities at Speedway Christian Church.

Gayle passed away on June 6, 2026, surrounded by her husband Bob and her three children, Bob (Michelle), Bill, and Sherry (Camden). She was very close to her family, including 6 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren.

Gayle will be missed by all who knew her. Services for Gayle are listed below.
